A Rare WW1 Robbins and Dudley Push Dagger in Orignal WW1 Holster.

***NOW SOLD***

Description

A rare Robbins of Dudley World War 1 Punch knife. These knuckle-duster weapons were made for private purchase by the troops and were not officially issued weaponry. The Medieval brutality of trench fighting led to a demand for close quarter weaponry and Britain’s cutlers rose to the challenge developing numerous terrifyingly efficient trench knives. This knife was made by the firm, Robbins of Dudley, Worcester between 1897 and 1920. Robbins were originally sheet metal workers but ran a side line during the Boer War and Great War making weapons such as this.

This is a must have for collectors of WW1 fighting knives. The 114mm double edged blade has a flattened oval cross-section and terminates in a spear point. The blade has narrow, converging twin fullers on both sides and is in excellent condition. The blade has a pleasing patina and is uncleaned. The cast alloy grip and steel knuckle bow are in great condition and firmly in place. The blade is firm in the grip. The bottom of the cast grip is stamped with the maker’s details: 'Robbins Dudley'.

This is a guaranteed genuine example of a rare and famous WW1 trench fighting knife.

UK postage included.

This item is over 100 years old and, therefore, legal to own and posess in line with current law and legislation 2022.
