A nice pair of medals here to T/10714493 Sgt. J. Statham, Royal Army Service Corps (later Major, Royal Corps
of Transport).

Complete with miniature medals, medal ribbon bar and a pewter presentation tray (10 inches in diameter) engraved as follows:
'Presented To Major (Q.M.) J. Statham R.C.T. By The Officers A.S.M.T. October 1978'
John Statham was born at Alton, Hants on 1st July 1929 and served in the ranks for 21 years and 49 days. He was promoted to WO1 (RSM) He was commissioned into the R.C.T. as a Lieutenant on 21st February 1966, Captain (QM) on 22nd May 1969 and Major (Q.M.) on 6th October 1975. The RCT Journal shows that in the 1960s he served as an RSM of the 433rd (Forth) Transport Column RASC. (TA) and at HQ RASC (AER). He was was later an officer with 10 Regiment, 12 Driver Training Regiment and at the RCT Depot as well as at HQ NE District UKLF. He retired on 12th October 1978 and sadly passed away in Truro, Cornwall in January 2004.
