WW2 German Army Officers Dagger by WKC in Embossed Silk Lined Presentation Case.
A superb example of a WW2 German Army Officers Dagger with a lovely caramel coloured grip by WKC. 1937 second style WKC cross guard and in superb condition with thick silver-plating finish to all the mounts and fittings, including the scabbard, with some minor age loss of plating. The 12 oak leaf pattern Pommel is in excellent condition, showing quality hand finishing to the oak leaves. The Grip is a beautiful and very unusual caramel coloured solid celluloid type (two tiny hairline cracks at the bottom edge. Second WKC type cross guard sporting the well known ‘Tomahawk’ or ‘Hatchet Style’ beak design. It is in near mint condition, showing really crisp detailing to the eagle and retaining nearly all its original plating.
The nickel-plated blade measures 10.25” (26cm) in length and is in near mint condition with just light surface runner marks. The blade is complete with its dark brown leather buffer pad. On the reverse it has a beautifully applied WKC makers’ mark. The silver-plated metal Scabbard is dent free and again in excellent condition. It still retains all of the dark background finish to the raised stippling (please see our photos). The throat is held in place by one flat head screw, on one edge, which is correct for this style of WKC dagger. This is a very fine example of the second style WKC dagger, with a stunning-coloured grip.
All contained in a silk lined beautifully embossed fitted case – absolutely stunning.
