8 inch barrel, and in .44 caliber this revolver was a Martial gun (i.e.) sold to the US Government in The Civil War. There are sub-inspectors marks on the numerous parts of the revolver. The revolver has the cutout on the recoil shield and on the bottom of the back strap so that you can attach a shoulder stock.
