Victorian Custom officers briar wood rummage sword stick by 'MOLE, BRMM' (Robert Mole, Birmingham). The blade is of robust quality steel with a square cross section. The scabbard and handle are of briar wood with brass fittings. These pieces were used for personal protection and for searching through bales to detect contraband items.
