***New In***A c1790 Very Fine English Cavalry Officers' Pistol by ‘Prosser’. Awarded at a Shooting Competition by The Surrey Yeomanry in 1831.

A superb English antique flintlock cavalry officers pistol by 'Prosser', a highly regarded London master gun maker. Barrel measures 9 inch and is both sighted and of beautiful Damascus twist and is of exceptional quality with platinum lined breech and swivel ramrod. The lock plate is engraved and signed 'Prosser' and fitted with fully working cock and sliding safety catch. Full stocked and with silver inlaid escutcheon with owners' initials and fitted matching engraved iron mounts.

The side plate area is fitted with a very impressive jeweller applied silver presentation plate and which is decorated with a charging cavalry officer on his horseback and presentation inscription:

'PRESENTED BY THE FIELD OFFICERS OF THE SURREY YEOMANRY CAVALRY TO THE BEST SHOT IN THE REGIMENT 1831'

Together with the owners' initials. This super pistol is researchable as indeed is its original owner and would make a very interesting research project.
