Elgin National Watch Co. WW2 military pocket watch. Black enamel dial with old luminous Arabic hours, matching hands and subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o/c. Base metal case with screw on front and back with 7 jewel jewelled lever movement numbered #40473799 and dating from 1942. The case back is worn but bears the Broad Arrow mark and is numbered WD 6242.
Case Diameter - 51mm, Depth - 15mm.
The Elgin Watch company was a major U.S watchmaker from 1864 to 1968 in Elgin Illinois by Philo Carpenter, Howard Z Culver, Benejamin Raymond, George Wheeler, Thomas Dickerson and W Robbins. The factory delivered its first movement in 1867.
