8 inch barrel, and in .44 caliber this revolver was a Martial gun (i.e.) sold to the US Government in The Civil War. There are sub-inspectors marks on the numerous parts of the revolver. The revolver has the cutout on the recoil shield and on the bottom of the backstrap so that you can attach a shoulder stock.
