Battle of Waterloo: At Waterloo in 1815, the 1st Battalion of the 28th was part of the 8th Brigade in Lieutenant-General Sir Thomas Picton's 5th Division, which was part of Hill's Corps. The regiment distinguished itself and was mentioned by name in the Duke of Wellington's dispat
