A fascinating relic of the Boer War (1899-1902).
A hand-stitched leather gambling dice shaker made from an original Capstan Medium Strength Navy Cut Cigarette Tin by a casualty of the Boer War. When tins of cigarettes issued to British troops were empty they were given to convalescent servicemen to cover. The leather features an attractive patina with neat, tight stitching and an inlaid cord pattern to the body and lid.
