***NOW SOLD***Early 1939 Heavy Weight WW2 German Gold Wound Badge by '65' (Klien & Quenser, Idar/ Oerstein).
Early 1939 heavyweight WW2 German Gold wound badge maker marked: '65' (Klien & Quenser, Idar/ Oerstein). A very nice early war production piece.
A Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold was instituted on 1st September 1939.
The Gold Wound Badge was awarded for five or more times wounded, loss of limbs, total blindness, 'loss of manhood', or severe brain damage via hostile action. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been gold gilded and lacquered. The oval shaped obverse depicts an embossed profile of a mobile swastika, above an M35 pattern helmet, which is above two crossed broad swords. This then lies on a pebbled field and is surrounded by a laurel leaf and berry wreath which is tied together at the bottom with a bow tie. The full-back features the correct stamped catch, stamped hinge and pin.
A lovely early example in wonderful condition and very hard to find in this condition. Solid backed (as they should be - no matter what some try to tell you!).UK mainland postage included.
