A 19th century Kachin Dao from Nagaland (in north eastern india and the Kachin of Northern Burma (Myanmar)). This example is heavy and has a horn handle with interesting pomel. The end of the grip is flared and capped with an ivory or bone plate. The grip has a bronze ferrule with decoration. The blade is single edged and is almost staright although a minimal curve can be discerned on close examination. There is a similar example in the Pitt-Rivers museum in Oxfrod and is described as Kachin type.
