***New In***c1850 Superb Victorian 'Parker Field' Metropolitan Police Hanger.
A super example of the Victorian police hanger issued from the 1850 to around 1867. It has a brass hilt with a 'D' shaped guard, ray skin grip and a heavy brass pommel with the terminal of the tang peened over for extra strength. It has a locking catch to secure the blade in the scabbard, these came in around 1850. This stopped the Constable being disarmed during a scuffle. It has a beautiful quality curved steel blade with a double-edged drop point. The bottom of the blade near the ricasso has the makers flamboyant etched mark for Parker Field and Sons, 23 Holborn London. It has a leather scabbard with brass locket and chape, the locket has a heavy oval frog stud. This whole sword is in wonderful condition, there is no damage to mention. It has a lovely clean blade free from any rust or pitting. The scabbard release catch is in perfect working order and the scabbard is in fine condition.
